Sustainability starts with soil: How do you take care of a healthy nutrient soil?

Thursday 20 April 2023

RHP is an organization that knows a lot about nutrient soils. They have two quality marks, RHP and RAG, which are for different types of nutrient soils. Nutrient soils are substrates with nutrients for fungi, bacteria, plants or animals to grow.

RHP

The RHP Consumer quality mark is intended for potting soil and lets the consumer know that the potting soil is of good quality and safe. RHP issues in total six different quality marks. Read all about the 6 different quality marks issued by RHP here.

If your potting soil is RHP certified, then this ensures a good start of the cultivation. This is because the quality mark ensures that the nutrient soil has the right water absorption, air content, pH, EC and nutrients. The knowledge about nutrient soils at RHP has been built up since 1963. They do research to show that their quality mark meets various quality requirements. Thus, the RHP quality mark shows that the nutrient soil is safe, clean and free of weeds, reducing the risk of weeds, pests and diseases.

The high quality of the RHP certificate allows for more sustainable cultivation later in the growing process. This is because fewer resources may be needed to protect the crop because of the safety of the nutrient soil. This ultimately has environmental benefits as well.
