‘Through this quality mark, florists can demonstrate that they favour sustainable business operations and uphold the principles of social responsibility,’ explains SMK.
The Sustainable Florist Barometer provides florists with tools to enhance the sustainability of their own processes by means of a checklist. The ‘sustainability level’ of a florist is determined according to the percentage of their product range that is composed of sustainably produced plants and flowers, and the points that can be earned in respect of this.
In addition to the tools offered florists through this quality mark, the Sustainable Florist Barometer logo can also be clearly recognised by consumers. SMK says that there are currently more than 400 Sustainable Florist Barometer certified florists in the Netherlands. ‘We expect even more florists to carry this quality mark this year.’
