What does organic farming actually mean? Organic farming is a production method in which the greatest possible account is taken of nature. An increasing demand for organic plants and flowers has been noted among consumers, not only because they are aware of the environmental impact produced by these items, but also because of the link made to human and animal health.
As part of FM Group, we are in regular contact with Bionext, a chain organisation for organic agriculture and food. Bionext is active in the floriculture sector, among others, and works in close collaboration with growers with the overall objective of enhancing the sustainability of the sector. According to Bionext, organic farming is a solution for many climate and environmental challenges. Because the word ‘organic’ is protected by law, it can only be used by certified companies. This also applies to producers and traders in the floriculture chain. Organic products can be identified through the European organic label.
