Purchasing Fairtrade certified flowers helps growersto build stronger, more robust farms and communities.

Fairtrade certified flowers are often imported from flower farms in Kenya, Ethiopia, Ecuador and Colombia. The Fairtrade certification scheme promotes sustainable practices by incorporating a range of social, environmental and trade requirements into the scheme.

A quarter of the Fairtrade certification scheme requirements is currently aimed at reducing the environmental impact of the certified flower farms. The environmental requirements include soil- and water quality, waste management and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
