Tropiflora, a flower and plant farm in Sri Lanka has always focussed on ecological and social sustainability. Tropiflora is the only Fairtrade flower farm (2022) in the continent of Asia. The farm located at its two farms employs 200 people.
A Swiss/Sri Lanka joint venture established in 1980, the company is committed to the communities in the area the farms are located. This has been strengthened since Tropiflora become a certified Fairtrade producer in 2004. It has received Fairtrade Premium payments since that go into a communal fund which is managed and utilized by the Premium-committee of workers in a democratic manner.
